I took a tour of properties just listed in Kirkland yesterday. It’s a spectacularly pretty drive to go across the lake in the middle of the day when traffic is not a worry, taking in all the postcard-perfect vistas along the way. When I get to do this and justify it as work, well, it just feels lucky.
Last week, though, when I arrived in Kirkland to view a new listing that was on my radar, the home was depressingly disappointing. Also, it smelled bad. Undaunted like I usually am, however, I set out again with optimism since this week’s offerings promised to be better. Still, I was not prepared to be bowled over like I was.
This house, just listed for $759,00 in the East of Market neighborhood, offers big-city sophistication with its chocolate brown hardwood floors, sleek and sexy kitchen, and scads of white millwork throughout. Better still, the listing agent was darling and friendly and confessed to have been responsible for this beautiful remodel a few years ago. I was impressed.
He made me promise to next go visit his real estate partner wife at another new listing she was holding open. It was in fact next on my list.
This one is cool because of the big, open floor plan which orients around this back patio and outdoor fireplace. To me an outdoor fireplace is the height of luxury.
I also loved the studio over the garage, reminiscent of friends’ northside college apartments I visited in Berkeley, but thoroughly modern.
The listing agents for these properties, Natasha and Bryon Bosch have a fun website: www.kirklandstyle.com. Check it out, especially because they have given their dog, Scout, his own page.

Lots to like about Kirkland this week…
